Haiti Happenings

November 2018

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.”  2 Corinthians 4:7-10

Dear Family,

2nd Corinthians 4 has been on my heart lately as a prayer and hope for our world, but more specifically for Haiti and the Dorcés, with everything they are enduring. It is difficult for me to be here, not there with them, especially since my plan was to visit during this week of Thanksgiving. However, the Lord’s ways are higher than mine, and I am learning to use this time to pray and seek Him.

Paul opens the passage in 2nd Corinthians with this: “Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart.” This ministry is not mine, nor the Dorcés’. It is only bestowed upon us by God’s mercy. Remembering this brings me comfort and hope inexpressible.

My list of thanks-givings this year is very long, and since each passing year God opens my eyes and enlarges my heart even more to the trials and afflictions of my brothers and sisters around the world, my blessings are not easily taken for granted.

Please pray:

  • For safety and protection for the Dorcé family and those under their care.
  • That God would give Wilckly and Dee wisdom and clarity of heart and mind as they make difficult decisions.
  • For God’s provision: with more mouths to feed than usual, and the added danger of getting money from the bank, funds are low.
  • That the people would not give in to fear or despair, but that they would place their trust in God and His promises.
